Victoria Coker , aka Vic-E, is a Brooklyn-born Nigerian and Black-American social entrepreneur, software engineer, and multi-disciplinary artist who blends music, storytelling, visual art, and new media, including web development, into her work. Her creative journey has been predominantly influenced by her experiences growing up as a Black woman in America, navigating economic hardship and systemic oppression. Ms. Coker graduated from St. John's University with a Bachelor in Communication Arts and, in 2022, became a certified Software Engineer. Victoria's love for music started early; she began singing in the adult church choir at four. She has written the lyrics and co-produced the songs for her premiere musical, "MacN + The Wild Ones."
In addition, she leverages technology to create and amplify her and other underrepresented voices. In 2016, she launched the video platform ColoredContent (now defunct). In 2017, after seeing that Black creators had a knowledge gap around emerging media and technology, she was inspired to begin Black Web Fest, an organization created to celebrate Black creators. In addition, she co-launched Imagine Nation Media, an audio-first interactive storytelling platform.
Victoria won second place at 2017 NYC AT&T Create-a-thon for a short film she directed and edited, "Jane." As a 2024 Interledger Foundation fellow, she is developing a documentary on unbanked communities in the United States.
